		<description>One possible direction for the US would be to rethink corporate culture.  I think Google is doing some good work in this area, but for this to be a general trend, the incentives and risk/reward scenarios of investors and management would need to be realigned.

Both the recent financial crisis, and the lower but steadier implosion of the health care industry (from the POV of the public) show the weakness of relying purely on market forces to supply services society depends on.  Long-term R&amp;D is a similar, if somewhat less keenly felt area.</description>
